Animal See-Saw is another game that I just had to add because it is so good. The aim of the game is to keep the see-saw in balance by adding animals to each side without exceeding a total of 5kg on either side. It offers good practise reading kilo measurements and devlops 'counting on' and 'difference between' skills.

Our feature maths site for the day is Hop To It. When you have entered the site click on the word 'games' and then choose the' Hop to it' link. The aim of the game is to get the frog across the pond, by jumping on lily pads, without it falling into the water. it requires you to estimate distances and choose the the right amount of spring for the job. Today the kids in Room 13 had a great time playing the Caterpillar Ordering maths games. You'll find a link for this site on the post below.It is a terrific site because you can differentiate the to suit the needs of the children and still work as a whole class on the smart board . it was fascinating to observe all of the different strategies the children used to problem solve.
We are beginning a unit on data. Did you notice the poll on our Room 13 entry page? What flavour ice cream do you like to eat? Cast your vote and we will tell you the results tomorrow!

Hi Everyone,
We are using the Top Marks International Key Stage 1& 2 sites for our whole class maths sessions over the next few weeks. I am really impressed with this site. The games and activities are highly engaging and work well on an interactive whiteboard and regular computer. You will find them under the 'Explore on your own' links. Our focus for the rest of this week will be on the measurement section of Key Stage 1. We will be looking specifically at telling the time and measuring lines.
